Laurie Ann Knapp, Executive Director
When people ask me where I work, the response is almost always the same: "How do you do it? You must be an angel."
"Yes, we are often faced with illness, suffering, and sadness—but we are also surrounded by light, healing, and the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our clients and their families. It’s not easy to witness grief and loss, but it’s a privilege to be present in someone’s most vulnerable moments, offering comfort and care. I’m honoured to work alongside an incredible team and the most devoted volunteers. They are the true angels."
Outside of Hospice Georgina, Laurie finds peace in nature. She enjoys walking her dogs or hiking near her second home in Bancroft. After spending much of her day at a computer, she values her off-screen time—getting outside, staying active, and giving her eyes and back a well-deserved break.

Debbie Waterman, Administrative Assistant/Receptionist
Hi everyone, I’m the administrative assistant and will likely be the person who greets you when visiting our office. I believe we all need a little help at times and Hospice Georgina is here to do exactly that, help you when you need it the most.
I enjoy crafting, especially doing macrame projects, I absolutely love animals, big or small I love them all. Spending my down time with family and friends over a nice meal and good conversation is one of my favourite things to do.
Always remember, it doesn't cost you a thing to be kind!

Hi everyone! I'm Tina, a Recreation Therapist currently pursuing my Social Work degree at Laurentian University. My mission is always to help others feel good about themselves. With over two decades of experience, I've taught dance, theatre, and musical theatre as a certified instructor, building on my background as a professional dancer. Beyond that, I'm a proud mom to three amazing kids, and we run a puppet production company in Georgina, creating shows focused on positive mental health for children and youth. I enjoy all visual arts, cooking, writing and gardening. I'm really looking forward to connecting with the clients, staff, and volunteers at Hospice Georgina!

Lia Simon, Summer Student
Lia is the summer student who provides administrative and program support. She is a volunteer turned employee as she first started as a life resource volunteer helping with the Art Heals and Creative Paint Class programs.
She is very thankful for the meaningful connections and experiences that she continues to gain at Hospice Georgina. Especially since they support her learning in her Bachelor of Social Work degree at York University.
Some of Lia’s passions include watching sci-fi movies and TV shows, making art, listening to music, and supporting others around her the best way she can!
