Hike For Hospice - 2016
It was a cold, wet, dreary day, but loyal Hospice Georgina supporters came out in force for the national Hike for Hospice day on May 1st. Hikers sported both rain gear and their “I HIKE FOR…” t-shirts. Participants were able to hike in honour of loved ones struggling with terminal illness, or in memory of loved ones passed away. Thanks to Peter Van Loan and Mayor Margaret Quirk for attending and supporting Hospice Georgina. Special thanks to all our hard-working volunteers, staff and community sponsors who made the event happen. And our highest praise for ALL our hikers....especially the team from Sutton by the Lake and Team SEMM, who both won prizes for most funds raised. Events like this are only possible through community support, and Hospice Georgina is proud to say that all funds raised $5800.00 stay right here in the community!

Golf Fore Hospice - 2016
Once again the support from the Georgina community and level of support in Georgina never ceases to amaze me. On Monday May 30th, Lake Simcoe Arms hosted its 2nd annual charity golf tournament at The Briars in support of Hospice Georgina. Sixteen teams golfed on a picture perfect day and rounded out the evening at LSA for dinner, silent and live auctions, and awards. Participants reported having a fun time for a great cause. These funds will remain in Georgina and be used by Hospice Georgina to provide non-medical support to palliative people and those living with life-limiting/life-threatening illness, their caregivers and families, and the bereaved. All services are free of charge. This amazing result was made possible by the hard work of the event committee, to whom many thanks are owed: Laura Lipchitz and the staff of Lake Simcoe Arms, Steve Grass and the staff of The Briars Golf Club, Steve Jacobson and Mayor Margaret Quirk for a great job at the live auction, plus staff and volunteers at Hospice Georgina. But no event is complete without the sponsors, donors and participants. All funds raised $ $ 10,760.00 stay right here in the community!
Thank you to all!
