Our Volunteers

Hospice in home volunteer visiters provide emotional support, simple comfort measures and relief to caregivers. Trained Hospice Georgina volunteers are matched with clients after an assessment by the Hospice Executive Director, Client Care Coordinator  or Grief and Bereavement Coordinator

Volunteers are available to support clients and their families in many ways.
This support may be through conversation, silence, a gentle hand or foot
massage, tidying a room, offering a cup of tea – small ways to ease
the stress. Volunteers can provide a moment of “normality” in an
often busy environment.

Hospice volunteers can provide respite to a tired caregiver. Volunteers may
sit with a loved one while the caregiver goes for lunch, runs errands, or takes
a nap. We have some used equipment (hospital beds, walker, toilet seat etc.)
which we are happy to loan to people in the community on a needs basis,
when it is available. We ask that you "hold harmless" Hospice Georgina when
you use this equipment for liability reasons.
Contact the office at 905 722 9333 if you have
any requests or questions.
