Youth Programs
Rainbows Program:
Several years ago, the Sutton Legion provided funds to start Rainbows, a curriculum that is used by teachers after school. Children who are suffering a death or divorce in the family have an opportunity to bring their pain and anxiety to a safe environment. Every public school in Georgina, both elementary and secondary uses Rainbows child and youth grief programs.
Teen One-on-One:
A trained volunteer is available to meet with teens that may be experiencing a loss from the death of a loved one or are living with a family member who has a life limiting illness. These sessions help grieving children and adolescents learn more about themselves and how they feel about the loss in their lives through verbal expression, journaling and expressive art projects. Student participants also learn about the grief process and are guided to an understanding of grief as normal and natural. Contact Hospice or your high school guidance department for more information.
